“CMS utilizes the patient-specific MDS data collected to calculate many of the QI measures they monitor,” mentioned Parkhurst, “but it’s important to realize the Medicare claims and submissions to the CDC and the National Healthcare Safety Network are also utilized to calculate some of those CMS quality measures.” Throughout the presentation, Parkhurst focuses on the specific MDS data that drives the QI measures by the MDS.
