TMC’s Director of Clinical Excellence, Kevin Cezat, was recently published in McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, explaining what impact the Fair Housing Act is having on continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). “A clear theme,” Kevin writes, “is that all policies must be based on valid safety concerns and must not meaningfully restrict access.”
This legislation impacts many different facets of the community, so it’s important to be aware of these regulations to avoid costly lawsuits. Cezat goes on to provide some basic dos and don’ts specific to policies affecting electric scooter/wheelchair users.
